Gooding Co. Inc. president Jerry Hace is proud to announce the appointment of Rory O’Connor as National Account Manager.
In his new position, O’Connor will be responsible for new business development in Western and Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. He will also be responsible for creating and building business relationships with Pharmaceutical, Bio-Pharma, Consumer Packaged Goods, and Medical Products manufacturers across the country.

An Amherst resident, O’Connor has previously held executive positions in sales, business development, and marketing.
O’Connor received his B.A. in English Literature and Letters from Eastern Michigan University in 1971. He has also taken Theory of Constraints training from the Goldratt Institute.

Nosco, Inc., a subsidiary of Holden, Inc., announced today that it has acquired Gooding Company, Inc., a New York-based insert and outsert manufacturer with over 141 years of printing experience. Through the acquisition of Gooding, Nosco will add an additional manufacturing facility on the east coast that will help reduce lead times, lower packaging costs and provide an expanded portfolio of folded literature. 

Gooding was established in 1876 in Lockport, New York. In 1990, the company was sold to current president, Jerry Hace. Under Hace’s leadership, the company began focusing on enclosures for the medical and pharmaceutical industries, in addition to other markets.

Lockport, New York’s oldest continuously operating manufacturing company recently completed a 10,000 sq. ft. expansion of its production space.

Earlier this month, Gooding Co. Inc. put the finishing touches on its now 26,500 sq. ft. facility – 61% larger than it was just three years ago when the Town of Lockport Industrial Development Agency provided financial incentives to assist in the expansion.

The entire production space is climate, humidity, and pest controlled – just a few examples of the current good manufacturing practices with which Gooding is compliant in its role as a supplier to the pharmaceutical and consumer industries.

“The expansion will allow us to streamline our manufacturing process, add equipment, and continue our growth as a supplier to both pharmaceutical and consumer products companies,” said Gooding president Jerry Hace, who bought the company in 1990. “We’ve also added eight jobs since we started the expansion in 2013 and expect to add more in 2016,” he said.

Equipment installed as part of the expansion includes an 18-plate addition to its existing Vijuk Outsert Systems that will allow the company to print MicroFolders™ with 266 panels. Gooding now has a total of eight folding machines capable of running around the clock to meet production demands.

Gerald Hace, president of Gooding Co., Inc., announced that the company recently added an 18-plate capability to its existing Vijuk Outsert Systems that will enable the company to print MicroFolders™ with 266 panels. The end result is a MicroFolder as small as 1-1/8” x 1-1/8” for attaching to bottles or cartons with limited space.

“Prior to our upgrade, our folding systems had a 210-panel capability,” Hace noted. “With this new 266-panel capability, we’ll be better able to help our pharmaceutical and consumer products customers balance compliance, safety, and informational requirements with smaller packaging footprints.”

Gooding now has a total of eight folding machines capable of running around the clock to meet production demands.

Jerry Hace, president of 140-year-old specialty printer Gooding Co. Inc., is proud to announce the appointment of April Corrao as Director of Business Development.

In her new position, Corrao will have responsibility for both the continued development of Gooding’s current operation and the development of new business initiatives under the Gooding umbrella. She will lead recruiting efforts to support business growth and oversee the development of relationships with Pharmaceutical, Bio-Pharma, Consumer Packaged Goods, and Medical Products manufacturers across the country.

A Clarence resident, Corrao was most recently general manager of a high sales volume national chain department store with a staff of 150 full- and part-time associates.

Corrao is a summa cum laude graduate of Syracuse University (2008) with a triple major in Retailing, Marketing, and Finance. At Syracuse she was the recipient of one of only 12 University Scholar Awards given in her graduating class of 3,250 students. She is a 2004 graduate of The Buffalo Seminary.

Gooding president Jerry Hace reported that the company exhibited at and attended the MEDTECH 2015 conference in Buffalo, New York on October 14th and 15th, 2015. The conference is the largest gathering of executives and senior leaders in the Bio/Med industry in New York State and was focused on supply chain interactions within the healthcare industry.

Jerry Hace, president of 139-year-old specialty printer Gooding Co. Inc., reported that the company has nearly finished construction on a 10,000 SF addition to its current 16,500 SF of production space, a 61% increase, at its facility at 5568 Davison Road in Lockport. The $700,000 project includes the purchase of new equipment, and will result in the hiring of an additional six new employees, in addition to the 38 it currently employs.

“We’re looking for ways to better serve our customers in the pharmaceutical, medical, and consumer packaging industries,” said Hace. “This expansion will allow us to gain greater efficiencies, add equipment, and potentially expand into other lines of business.”

Gooding specializes in providing printed packaging solutions for consumer products companies and in the printing of folded Inserts and Outserts for the pharmaceutical and medical industries, as mandated in the 1938 United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. That legislation requires that written, printed, or graphic matter bearing directions for use and warnings be upon the immediate container of any article.

The Town of Lockport Industrial Development Agency provided financial incentives to assist in the expansion. The IDA determined that the project is expected to result in a cost:benefit ratio of almost 18:1, far in excess of the IDA’s standard of 3:1.

LOCKPORT – The Town of Lockport Planning Board granted site plan approval Tuesday for a 14,000-square-foot expansion of Gooding Co., a printing plant in Ulrich Business Park off the south end of Davison Road.

Gooding, which at 137 years old is the oldest industry in Lockport, moved from the City of Lockport into the town in 1999. Earlier this year, the town Industrial Development Agency approved a 15-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes, or PILOT, deal on the $900,000 expansion, adding as many as 10 jobs to a 35-person workforce.

The company, which specializes in printing inserts for prescription drug packages, nearly doubles the size of the current building with the addition. Actual production floor area will more than double.

LOCKPORT, NY – Gooding Co., Inc. has added five new employees at its Lockport, NY headquarters. The company now employs 40. The new hires were in response to an increase in production at Gooding over the past year. They include two operators in the press area, two in the bindery area, and one cutter operator. The staff expansion will also help Gooding to reduce production lead times.

LOCKPORT, NY – The Pharmaceutical Printed Literature Association (PPLA) has elected Gooding Co. Inc. President Jerry Hace to serve as their board vice chairman.  
Hace joined the PPLA Board in 2010 and was nearing the end of his first two-year term when he was appointed vice chairman. He will serve in this capacity for an additional two-year term, though 2014.

The PPLA is a forum for member printers and manufacturers to improve delivery of information for patient protection, and to support health care professionals through the advancement of printed literature to legislative, regulatory, and other decision-making bodies.

The organization advocates for the 100% availability of critical pharmaceutical information – including dosage and side effects – via printed information attached directly to medication. The group’s position is that the alternative, pharmaceutical information via electronic methods, is inadequate for the needs of professionals and the population in general, and specifically for the elderly and those without access to electronic distribution.

“Being proactive and staying involved is a Gooding promise,” said Hace. “Through the PPLA Board, Gooding is able to serve as an advocate and help promote legislation that serves the public good and ensures patient safety.”
